Quest is a membership club run by a committee on a not-for-profit basis
Membership is open to all on payment of a yearly £18 subscription. Visitors can pay £3 for a single meeting.
We choose experienced speakers on a variety of popular topics
For Speakers
We will send you a reminder 2 or 3 weeks before the event.
If you can provide photos and details of your talk that we can use for local publicity, that will help us get you a good audience.
The venue is The Athenaeum, Leasgill, near Milnthorpe LA7 7ET. This is on the main village street running through Heversham and Leasgill, parallel to the A6. It is opposite the turning to the old village school, which is closed but school signs still in place. There is a car park.
Meetings start at 10.00am and you can expect an audience of around 50 people.
Most talks last for around an hour, followed by coffee, then Q&A, finishing around 11:30.
The committee will be in the hall around 9:30am to help you set up.
You are welcome to bring your own projection equipment, but the hall has recently been equipped with new high quality audio and projection facilities.
These comprise:
- a wired link at the speaker's end of the hall from your laptop to our projector. This requires an HDMI socket on your laptop - see the picture below. We provide an HDMI lead for the connection. Audio and video can be run through this connection, as well as Powerpoint.
- a remote control to allow you to advance slides. This has a wireless dongle which plugs into a USB port on your laptop, allowing you to walk and talk with the remote in your hand. The remote also has a laser pointer.
- a radio microphone with lapel mic. Some of our members have hearing issues, so we appreciate it if you use this. That way your talk will be on the hearing loop for those who need this.
Emergencies: if you are delayed, our Chair, Alan Hartley's mobile number is 07811340742. My mobile is 07760 757339.
