The Athenaeum
Quest meets at The Athenaeum, the village hall of Heversham and Leasgill LA7 7ET. This is on the village street, parallel with the A6 approximately 2 miles north of Milnthorpe.
The hall has a car park with disabled spaces. Car parking is also possible on the village street.
The hall has excellent audiovisual facilties, including a hearing loop.
The name was provided by the Argles estate which bequeathed the building to the community.
The wealth of the Argles family came from shipping, based in Liverpool. Mr. Argles was a member of the Athenaeum Gentleman’s Club in Liverpool and brought this title to what became the Athenaeum at Leasgill, initially a penny reading library.
The Athenaeum is now run on a non-profit making basis by a Management Committee on the behalf of the Parish.
The Athenaeum is used by several local groups and clubs and is also available for special events, for example parties, art exhibitions, celebrations etc.
